Overview

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gene Leon Thompson, who died unexpectedly on 30 May 2025, aged 82, due to complications from pneumonia. Late of Caloundra, Gene was the beloved father of Peter, Jennifer, Monica, Christine, and Nada.

Gene was widely respected as the Founder of Triple M Truck Bodies in 1974—an iconic Queensland business—and for his passionate work redeveloping Kondalilla Eco Resort in recent years. He will be remembered not only for his entrepreneurial spirit but also for his deep commitment to supporting others through counselling, conversation, and mentorship.

Two services will be held to honour his life—one at Great Southern Memorial Park and another at Kondalilla Eco Resort—to allow all who knew him a chance to say farewell.
